XXXmas in July

What is XXXmas in July?
It's a play on words based on the the event "Christmas in July." XXXmas in July is an exchange event. Works do not need to be Christmas/holiday themed.What is an exchange?
An exchange is a lot like Secret Santa. Participants get matched up to create gifts for one another over the course of several months. They then get revealed on a designated day for everyone to enjoy.What are the requirements?
Writers will create a fic with a minimum word count of 2,000 words.
Artists are to create one clean digital or traditional illustration with color flats. Black and white is fine if that is your preferred style, but it cannot be a sketch.Are there any content restrictions?
No. All content will be allowed, however, you must take your giftee's likes and dislikes into consideration and also tag accordingly. If you make something specifically from their Do Not Want list, you will be banned from future exchanges.Where can we post it?
You may post your work to your platform of choice. You will just need to link it in the Discord server for your giftee to see it and for it to be shared. An AO3 collection will also be created at the time of posting.What is the schedule?
The schedule can be viewed below with posting in mid-late July.Communication?
There will be a sign-up form and matchups will be emailed to participants, but check-ins will be hosted in a private forum in the Thots & Prayers Discord Server. If you are not already a member of the server, you will be sent a link to join the server when you sign up. In the rare case that you are banned from the server, you will not be eligible to participate in the exchange. You do not have to participate in the rest of the server if you do not want to. You can mute the server and only have notifications on for the section housing the exchange.There will be no stealing of artwork or plagiarizing fics. If you are found to have stolen work, it will be an immediate ban from this and all future events. No generated images (AI) will be allowed. All works must be your own creation.

Advent Calendar

What is an Advent Calendar?
An Advent Calendar is a markdown to Christmas starting on December 1st. Generally, it is a box with small paper flaps with a treat inside that you get to open once per day. Advent Calendars have gone a more non-traditional route over the years and can now be made up of many different things, but they are all 24 days long.About:
The Nu: Carnival Advent Calendar will be a voluntary project in which prompts will be suggested via an interest check and then participants will be requested to choose three of the listed prompts they would be most interested in creating for. Participants will be matched up with the prompts to create one work for each day. The matching will not be first-come-first-serve. Mods will do their best to get everyone their top choice, but depending on availability, some may be given their second or third.What can I create?
Participants are allowed to create one new original piece that fits the theme of their prompt. This can be anything as long as it fits and is created by you: fanart, fanfic, mood board, cosplay, playlist, etc. Plagiarizing works, art theft, and AI-generated works of any kind will result in a ban.Example: Of the 24 prompts listed from the Interest Check, you choose mistletoe, Christmas lights, and gift giving on your sign-up form. After going through the all the top picks requested by each participant, you receive and email stating you have been matched to do Christmas lights on December 17th. You will then be required to create one new fan work centered around Nu: Carnival and Christmas lights to post on December 17th.How do I sign up?
Sign-ups will take place after our interest check period. Once the list of prompts are determined, they will be posted on the Twitter, Tumblr, and Bluesky accounts for everyone to see. There will be a sign-up form available a few days later. You will be asked to select three different prompts and what type of medium you are most interested in creating. When the sign-up period ends, all participants will be emailed which prompt they were assigned.Will there be a Discord server for communication?
Yes & No. You are welcome to join the Thots & Prayers Discord server where a channel will be set up for the advent calendar, but it is not required to join the server to participate. Check-in reminders will be sent in the server, but they will also be emailed to all participants.What if I need to drop out?
If you can no longer create your work, please notify a mod ASAP. There will be an option on the sign-up form to mark if someone is interested in pinch hitting should someone else drop out. Please let us know if you can no longer create your work by your designated posting date so that one of the pinch hitters can be notified.Am I allowed to share previews or snippets of my work?
We ask that all works be kept secret until your posting date so that the community can be surprised by the treat you are sharing with them on your advent day. If you would like to share a WIP, feel free to do so in the Advent Calendar channel in the server.When is my work due?
All works will be due by November 24th. This will ensure there is enough time for any last minute pinch hitters needed and to allow mods time to make graphics for posting.Will this be SFW, NSFW, or Problematic?
All rating types are allowed. Please be sure to tag your works accordingly.What if more than 24 people sign up? Will people be rejected?
No. If we have more than 24 participants sign up, then certain days will have multiple works created. It’ll be a bonus advent treat! If someone drops out and there were two people assigned to that date, then we will not contact pinch hitters since there will still be a work shared for that day.Will there be extensions given?
No. In order to have at least one work posted on each day, there will be no extensions given out. Please be mindful of the check-ins and final submission due date. Signups for the advent are opening earlier this ear to accommodate more time for creation.How do I post my work?
After evaluating how the 2023 advent calendar went, it has been decided that all works will initially be posted by the NuCarni Events account on all 3 social media. This ensures that people on all platforms are able to see the works and that they are posted at a consistent time each day. A preview will be posted on the account and you will be tagged if you are on that platform (or a link back to your preferred social media if you are not on a certain platform). You are free to post the original version of your work the same day or after that.All contributors will be required to have an AO3 account for posting. They will be submitted to the collection as unrevealed and the works will be revealed individually on their designated day. If you do not have an AO3 account, please let us know so we can get you an invite.

Cosplay Minimum Requirements:
- At least one cosplay photo of a Nu: Carnival character
- Cosplay does not have to be in one of their SR or SSR outfits, but must fit the prompt
Playlist Minimum Requirements:
- Playlist must have at least five songs
- At least one song should relate to a Nu: Carnival character
- At least one song should fit the prompt

Rarest of Pairs!

What is a bang?
It is a collaborative event where a writer gets paired up with an artist. There is a minimum word count (differs from bang to bang) and usually has the writers submitting the summaries first, then the artists will choose a selection of summaries. Mods of the event will then factor in different things to come up with a team lineup.What is a "rare pair"?
A rare pair is a lesser known pairing within a fandom. They are usually a ship that make you go, "huh, I never thought of that," or have limited content surrounding them.How do I know if my ship is a rare pair?
Rare pairs will be determined by a set percentage of fics on AO3. This percentage will be decided after the IC. (I.e: If it is 5%, then the ship cannot exceed 5.9% of all NUC fics on AO3. 52/1034)Will canon ships be included?
The inclusion of canon ships (all Eiden x Clansmen ships) will be dependent on the IC results.What is the role of a Pinch Hitter and a Beta?
Pinch hitters will be asked to join teams in the event other creators drop out. Pinch hitters will be offered summaries on an as-needed basis, with no penalty for refusing to work on a summary you aren't interested in working on. Extensions and extra time for pinch hitters will be discussed as needed.
Betas serve as editors/proofreaders for teams that desire one. They will choose summaries they are interested in and work with their teams on an as-needed basis.What type of content is allowed?
All content is allowed with no restrictions.
This is an 18+, pro-fiction, pro-ship event. We only ask that problematic content be kept to the appropriate channels within the server.Are we able to join with a pre-planned partner? Or will we only be matched randomly?
Yes you are able to join with a partner! On the sign-up form there will be a spot to indicate if you already have a partner planned. If not, you will be matched up based on the claims.

Daster Week

The main focus of works should be the relationship between Aster and Dante whether that be romantic, platonic, or exactly what we see in canon. Be creative!Tag works appropriately with necessary major warnings.Daster Week is scheduled for Sept. 23rd - 29th this year to celebrate Daster Middle Birthday! If you don't know what that is, it is the halfway point between Dante's birthday and Aster's birthday, which falls on Sept. 25th.When the ship week is over, our designer Muse will be collecting all completed works into a digital PDF for download. If you would like your work included in the PDF, there will be a consent form linked below when Daster Week begins. This can be fanfiction, fanart, cosplay, moodboards (if moodboards are submitted to the PDF, they must be all stock/free images due to copyright reasons), etc. Whatever you create for the ship will be included. The only exception is that any gore/graphic blood use be excluded from submissions for the PDF due to personal triggers. (Small amounts of blood are fine.)That’s it! Any and all content is welcome and encouraged to be shared for the ship week.Prompts
Each day will feature both a SFW and NSFW prompt for you to use as you see fit. You may use the SFW prompts for a NSFW creation and vice versa with the NSFW prompts. You may include as many or as few of the prompts as you would like. The prompt breakdown can be found in the schedule below:

The main focus of works should be centered around Aster from Nu: Carnival. These can be shippy or character-specific. SFW & NSFW are both allowed. Pretty in Pink will be taking place during Aster's birthday week, though works do not have to be birthday related.All original works accepted as long as they are tagged appropriately.
